Building Community 🤝
Coming off the tail end of the pandemic, our campus felt pretty quiet and disconnected. My goal as Head of Operations within Student Social Responsibility (SSR) was simple: get students back out there, solve problems on the fly, and show our campus and neighbors that we actually give a damn.
Highlights & Big Wins 🚀
- Post-Pandemic Worker’s Appreciation Day: Pioneered the first celebration for AUC’s staff post-pandemic, bringing joy back to the people who keep our campus running every day.
- 200+ Students Engaged in Field Trips: Led students on meaningful visits to local hospitals, orphanages, and elderly homes, showing them the real power of showing up for people.
- Concert Accessibility: Championed accessibility at the Retro Concert by building a dedicated, hassle-free entry and seating flow for 30 attendees with disabilities.
How I Led My Team 🧠
I didn’t want to just give orders from behind a desk; I wanted my team to learn how to execute under pressure without losing their sanity.
- Hands-on Mentorship: Taught my team how to handle crisis logistics, budget efficiently, and adapt on the fly when things didn’t go as planned.
- Commitment to Excellence: Recognized as Best Head in the Community Engagement Committee for leadership, collaboration, and driving impactful initiatives.
Takeaway 💡
This was my proving ground. It’s where I learned that real empathy needs solid logistics to make a difference, and where I built the foundation for leading on a much bigger scale.
